WRESTLINGWORTH HISTORY SOCIETY

Welcome to the official website of the Wrestlingworth History Society.

The society was formed in 2000 and has members both from the village and a wide area around, with speakers and guests coming from much further afield using Zoom.

We host a broad programme of talks on local history, British history and world history.

Meetings take place every two months in the Memorial Hall in Church Lane, on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Annual membership is £15. Guests are always welcome and pay just £4 to attend any talk.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

We took no subscriptions for most of the last two years due to the uncertainty created by the pandemic. Hopefully 2022 will be more stable and subscriptions are now due. We will be writing to members individually with details for payment by BACS. Following agreement at the AGM, annual membership has been raised to £15 for each member or £20 for a family membership.

NON MEMBERS WELCOME

Admission for non-members is £4 per talk. For Zoom talks, payment can be made directly via BACS. Please contact us via the 'Contact' tab above.

About this site

History is a work-in-progress and so is this site!

Besides being a platform for advertising the Society's events, we hope it will also serve as an informal record of village history.

There are already a good number of old photographs on the 'Village History' page, but we'd welcome many more, from any century or any decade. If you have any you're happy to share, please use the contact form to get in touch.

Written records, village family histories and any anecdotes are also welcome.
